Measure Your Door Height/Width
Start by measuring the height and width of your doorway or opening. This is important as it ensures your plastic strip curtain kit will fit perfectly. Note down your measurements as you will need to input these into the calculator.
A standard tape measure is all you need. For tall doors, a step ladder helps you reach the top of the opening for an accurate height measurement.
Measure the full width and height of the opening you want to cover. Measure to the outside edges where the mounting hanger will sit, to the nearest inch.
Our kits are made to order. Simply choose the closest size up in the configurator — the universal hanger can be trimmed on site for a precise fit.
Choose your PVC Strip Type
Next, select the type of PVC strip that suits your needs best. Different types are available, each designed for specific applications such as standard (for general usage), polar (for cold storage areas), welding (to block UV light), and others.
Smooth Clear is the industry standard for most doorways. Choose Low Temp for freezers, Ribbed for heavy forklift traffic, or specialty strips for insects, static, welding, or opaque privacy.
Standard Smooth Clear performs from -10°F to 150°F. Low Temp Clear stays flexible in walk-in freezer environments down to -40°F.

Choose Your Strip Width & Overlap
Now, choose the width and thickness of your strips. Sizes range from narrow and thin for pedestrian doors to wider and thicker for heavy-duty or industrial use.
Overlap is how much each strip covers the next. 50% overlap is standard for general use; higher overlap improves sealing for temperature control and high-traffic openings.
6" and 8" strips suit most pedestrian and light forklift doors. 12" strips are best for large exterior openings and heavy traffic.
Yes — higher overlap uses more material, so the instant quote scales automatically as you change the overlap option.

Walk-In Freezer Industry StandardSmallest strip in full overlap, two layers of strip across the hanger, provides the perfect seal for walk-in freezer applications. Also used for smaller openings as an economical barrier for air pressure, temperature, noise, dust.

Economical Commercial IndustrialIndustry standard strip width, using less overlap requires less strip material. Perfect for high traffic pedestrian traffic. Carry loaded serving trays or boxes through with ease. Good for walk-in coolers.

Heavy Duty, Big Openings, Machine TrafficBig heavy strip for large openings, forklift traffic, trucks and machinery. Uses less material and is easier to pass through than full overlap. If lighter loads are typically carried, too heavy of a strip may drag product off of the forklift.

Walk-In Freezer Industry StandardFull overlap with largest and heaviest strip — curtains for extra large doorways, heavy machinery, forklifts, loading docks or exterior doorways with excess wind. Openings with high levels of negative and positive air pressure.
